The quaint town of St Lucia is situated in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The town serves as the hub for the Isimangaliso Wetland Park (a world heritage site).

The town is almost an island as it is surrounded by water. In the east it is bordered by the warm Indian Ocean and on the west Lake St Lucia forms the border. The town is renowned for hippo roaming the streets at night and even the elusive leopard is seen from time to time. A few lookout points on Lake St Lucia may even afford visitors with a glimpse of one of the more than 800 Nile crocodile that calls this place its home.
